The Renee Edwards Scholarship has a meaningful and familial origin, named after the dedicated parents of its founder, Derrick E. Sanders, Jr. The scholarship foundation was established in 2019 as a tribute to Marlene Renee Sanders and Derrick Edward Sanders, Sr., who have been happily married since October 24, 1998. The significance of this date is reflected in the annual closing of the scholarship application window on the 24th of October each year.
With a commitment to supporting education, the Renee Edwards Scholarship offers a financial award of $500 per scholarship.
